Frequently asked questions
Does this Remove Duplicate Lines tool upload my text?
No. The duplicate cleanup happens in your browser, so the text does not need to be sent to a server for this tool to work.
What counts as a duplicate line?
By default, a duplicate is a repeated non-empty line after edge spaces are ignored. You can turn off trim behavior by changing the matching option.
Can it ignore uppercase and lowercase differences?
Yes. Turn on Ignore case to treat lines such as Apple and apple as duplicates.
What is the difference between Keep first and Keep last?
Keep first leaves the first matching line in place. Keep last leaves the last matching line and removes earlier repeats.
Does it remove blank lines?
Only when Remove empty lines is turned on. Otherwise blank lines are kept so spacing can remain part of the text.
Can I see what was removed?
Yes. Switch Result view to Removed to see the lines dropped by the current matching rules.
What does Duplicates show?
Duplicates lists repeated values with occurrence counts, which helps confirm whether trim or case settings are matching the right lines.
What does Copy copy?
The Copy button copies the current result view, so switch back to Cleaned when you want the cleaned text.
