ONELESS / COLOR

Hex Color Code Finder

A color may arrive as a familiar word, an RGB function or an HSL value. Hex Color Code Finder turns that starting point into one compact HEX code. A large color specimen, name suggestions and equivalent values help you recognize the result before copying it into your next design or line of CSS.

Open Hex Color Code Finder. JavaScript powers the workspace; the full guide is available below.

UNDERSTAND THE RESULT

Color, with a little context.

One input, a normalized code

The tool accepts standard CSS names, 3/4/6/8-digit HEX and supported absolute RGB/HSL functions. Output uses uppercase 6-digit HEX for opaque colors and 8 digits when alpha is below one.

Alpha belongs to the result

The final two HEX digits encode opacity from 00 to FF. Transparent produces #00000000. A checkerboard makes transparency visible but is not included in the copied color.

HEX has finite precision

RGB and HSL calculations can contain fractions. HEX rounds each color channel, and alpha when present, to one of 256 byte values. Equivalent RGB/HSL labels describe the parsed input and can retain more precision.

HOW TO USE IT

From a starting point to a usable result.

  1. Enter a CSS color name or value. If a partial name is not yet valid, select one of the matching name suggestions.
  2. Read the large HEX result and opacity label. Use the example buttons to try different input formats.
  3. Copy HEX for the value alone or CSS for a color declaration. The RGB and HSL result cards copy their own values.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Rebecca purple in three notations

Enter rebeccapurple to obtain #663399. Its RGB channels are 102, 51 and 153; its HSL coordinates are 270°, 50% and 40%. These describe the same opaque sRGB color.

EVERYDAY USES

Make the next small decision easier.

Find a named color code

Turn a CSS keyword from an example or stylesheet into a HEX value for a design application.

Keep an alpha value

Convert an rgba() or alpha HEX value without silently flattening it onto white. Check it against the actual background in your project.

LOCAL WORKSPACE

Your work stays in this browser.

The tool processes color values locally. It does not upload the input to a processing server or save it in browser storage. Leaving or reloading the page clears the working state. Copying places the selected result on your clipboard; sharing sends only the page address without your working values.

These tools describe sRGB colors. Browser decoding, color management and the display can affect what you see; they are not an ICC proofing workflow or a print-color guarantee. Read the site privacy policy for information about the surrounding website.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few useful details.

Can I pick a pixel from a photograph here?

This tool resolves text values. Image Color Picker is the separate tool for sampling pixels from an image.

Can I enter a word such as brand blue?

Only standard CSS names are recognized. Partial names receive suggestions, but custom brand descriptions are not inferred.

Does it support every CSS color syntax?

No. The supported input formats are named colors, HEX, RGB and HSL. Contextual values such as currentColor and relative colors need page context and are not resolved.

Why does alpha look slightly different after HEX export?

HEX alpha uses one byte. A decimal such as 0.5 becomes 80, approximately 0.502, so exact decimal opacity may be rounded.

What is the HEX code for rebeccapurple?

The CSS named color rebeccapurple is #663399. Enter the name to see the code and its visual preview.

Does the case of letters in a HEX code matter?

No. #663399 and the same value using uppercase letters where applicable identify the same channels. Use one writing style consistently in your project.

Can I paste the result into CSS?

Yes. Use the value with a CSS property, for example color: #663399;. The name and HEX are alternative representations when they identify the same named color.
