Frequently asked questions

What is a good title length?

There is no fixed search-title limit. A practical title is usually clear, descriptive, and often around 30 to 60 characters.

Why does this estimate pixels?

Search previews are visual, so a wide title can run out of space even when the character count looks acceptable.

Should every title include a brand name?

Not always, but public pages often use a short brand tail when it helps distinguish the page.

Does this upload my title?

No. The check runs in your browser, so the title does not need to be sent to a server for this tool to work.

Why do two titles with the same character count have different widths?

Letters occupy different amounts of horizontal space. A title containing many W characters is wider than one containing many i characters, so both character count and estimated width are useful.

Will the search result always look like this preview?

No. This is a drafting preview, not a live search result. Search engines can choose different wording and layouts. Review the complete title rather than treating the preview as a guaranteed cutoff.

Should I paste the title tag or just its text?

Paste the readable title text without <title> markup. Include any brand suffix you intend to publish so you evaluate the complete wording.
