How does the word frequency counter work?
It extracts words from pasted text, groups matching words, counts each group, and shows count and percentage values.
What does Skip common remove?
It removes common English connector words such as the, and, of, to, and in so repeated topic words are easier to see.
Is this the same as keyword density?
No. Keyword Density Checker checks a target keyword you enter. Word Frequency Counter automatically lists many words from the text.
Does this upload my text?
No. The count runs in your browser, so the pasted text does not need to be sent to a server for this tool to work.
Why can I see only ten words in the frequency list?
Top 10 limits the displayed list. Choose Top 25 or All words to see more entries. A short display does not mean the rest of your draft was ignored.
Can I count uppercase and lowercase words separately?
Yes. Turn Ignore case off to keep differently capitalized spellings separate. Keep it on for a general repetition check.
Why do percentages change when I skip common words?
Skip common filters the English stop words before frequency percentages are calculated. The denominator is the remaining counted words, so the percentages describe the filtered vocabulary.
